BePrivy LogoOkay… So our new company went live last week and we want all LoftLusters to take notice and tell your friends. BePrivy’s mission is to improve the way companies market through email. All too often we’re wowed and motivated by print, tv, web or radio ads, but bored by email. This medium is the most targeted and cost-effective way to let others know about your successes, services, changes and collaborations so why not be passionate and precise with your message? By giving people who love your brand the opportunity to share that passion with others - wow, that’s a world of brand advocates at your fingertips!

We’d love for you to sign up for the BePrivy newsletter and tag someone you know so they can BePrivy too!

LoftLust has taken a back seat to other fun projects, but don’t fret, regular posting will resume soon!

Britt in snowSo the blog gets neglected once again. For those of you on the list - I’d said there’d be two more gift posts to come. Weeell, it’s been a bit complicated around here, so - I’ll be finishing up a post in the works combining the two topics since there’s not much time left to ship anyway.

But what’s been happening here in Portland you say? Well the title tells a lot of it. Snowboarded last week and the week before, and oh the pain! First time - took a private lesson from a girl who started the whole thing off with, “I just got some really bad news so, anyway, we’ll start with the basics, this, is a snowboard.” I’d been told by friends not to learn from your boyfriend - you’ll end up hating him when it’s all over. Best advice ever! I nearly cried of frustration several times on the way down the lower bowl with this girl. Left foot was asleep, got stuck in a snow bank once, fell on her board once - it took me about an hour and a half to get to the base. That was the only run I did that day.

So last weekend, J’s sister was in town. We took her out for her first time and she and I both did alright. She was getting pretty good toward the end, I was having wardrobe malfunction issues, and she and J both ate it pretty bad before we left. See his site for more pics and stories.

So what came of that injured boy? Today we found out he fractured his shoulder. No more showing off for you Jacob! As you can see in the pic it snowed yesterday here in Portland - what a treat! We went to Trader Joe’s last night to get some soup and every single person in the checkout lines was gleamining about how excited they were and how beautiful it was. Very fun to experience the snow. A bit fluffier than what we got in Texas. Most of it was gone today, but you could still see some on the sides of the roads.

We’ve finished shopping, wrapped presents, visited the hospital and played in the snow the last few days. Now we’re spending some down time with the laptops open, some hot tea at hand, jazz music playing, yummy candles from Mom burning, viewing pretty gifts under our little tree and some snow out the window, with a fat cat continuously encroaching on my personal space. Ah, the holidays.

Anyway… so that’s me. Now back to fabulous favorite products!

So we’ve been in Portland about seven weeks now and it’s gone from obvious summer to obvious autumn in that time. What a change from Texas! Our place is nearly fabulous though as I see it there’s of course always more that can changed, rearranged, and accentuated. The leaves have been turning outside our windows and all around town and October is definitely looking like it should. Hasn’t been too terribly rainy yet, though I’ve been warned so I’m considering the dry walks to my car to be flukes, so as to not get my hopes up too much. J and I have been shopping for snowboarding gear - went to some places around town and have been web-window-shopping like crazy. I sooo can’t wait for the season to begin! I know I’m gonna fall on my ass a hundred times and I’m a little nervous about that first time getting off the lift, but firsts are fun right?

The shelves are up, the clothes are getting hung, but the place is a mess! We’ve painted which looks damn snazzy - a greyish brownish color. Kinda looks like mud, but I swear it’s beautiful compliment to our periwinklish sofa. “Ish”, a sufficient way to approximate color.

Our internet gets set up this week and with everything that’s been going on I’ve only been able to spend so much time at the nearby wifi coffee establishment to check email, take care of bills etc. You know - the fun stuff. Riiiight.

Posting will resume soon. I swear it. Seriously, it’s driving me nuts!

So busy so quickly, so new and so exciting! LoftLust I miss you! I’ve spent the last week and a half here in Portland and it’s been fantastic. Training has been superb - the people are great, and the apartment hunting has been going well. I figure the more I see, the better decision I will make, so I’m trying to see as many places as I can. All the apartments I’ve been looking at are significantly smaller than what we had in our last place, so we’ve had to get rid of a lot, and I’m still having trouble visualizing all our stuff in these 500 sqft studios I’ve been looking at - however - I’ve also been looking at storage solutions, and as the decision making winds to a close on the space - I’ll be figuring out storage as well. I’ve also got some really fun ideas for some kitchenware and bath stuff I really want, so stay tuned - it won’t be long. I’m getting into my groove here and posting to LoftLust more frequently will resume. For now though I’ve gotta catch up with my sis and get some sleep. Later…!

Okay so here’s the lowdown… We’re moving! Goodbye ATX, hello PDX. I’ve been offered a position at a very cool company in Portland, OR, and the timing could not be more perfect. Our lease ends this month, it’s hot as hell here right now, and though we love Austin, a change of climate and surroundings sounds pretty fantastic too.

Needless to say we’ve been a bit busy, hence the neglected blog. I’ve gotta head out of town in two weeks and the boy’s going to do the same. We’re getting rid of a lot of stuff so we can move lightly, and can I just say, “Thank God for Craigslist!”

So, we’re starting fresh up there and I anticipate that’s gonna be super for LoftLust. As my quest to find the freshest, latest, fun and affordable designs for our new place heats up, I’ll be sure to post a ton and solicit your feedback. I hope you keep checking back. I’ll try to post some new stuff I’m excited about in between packing and saying bye to friends.

Hey - glad you found LoftLust. Thought it was time to offer up a little more about myself and this blog. As it continues to be tweaked please throw out suggestions - it’d be cool to know what you think.

fattyMy name’s Brittany and I live in Austin, TX in a place I like to call Transitioning. I share it with my Jacob and our cat Ana (a.k.a. Fatty). Jacob’s my techie on LoftLust and my other half otherwise. We came up with the idea for the site on one of those lazy Saturdays when you make it to your favorite coffee shop (Bouldin Creek) and go no further for hours.

I had been suggesting that cool, well-designed products for the modern home really can be found everywhere - across price ranges and various degrees of accessibility - and that all it takes to make an urban space look good is knowing where to find stuff and how to juxtapose (one of my favorite words) it. I had been that girl re-arranging her room at least once every season since I was 9, and my bookmarks list, recently reorganized, was seeming more like a directory than a list.

So - it seemed like a really fun idea to make a blog with my recommendations for contemporary home furnishings that are lovable, undoubtedly lust-worthy, and also obtainable.

If you’re at all like me, you have a low threshold for resisting the instant-gratification bug. You are goal-oriented and as such tend to reward yourself now and then. You think to yourself, “What’s more rewarding than having a kickass place to come home to?”, and that knowing how to get something you want - something that’s a little more out of the ordinary, original, or a downright design masterpiece - well that just might be heaven.

That’s LoftLust.
