Getting cool outside - Warm it up inside!
So we’ve been in Portland about seven weeks now and it’s gone from obvious summer to obvious autumn in that time. What a change from Texas! Our place is nearly fabulous, though as I see it there’s of course always more that can be changed, rearranged, and accentuated. The leaves have been turning outside our windows and all around town and October is definitely looking like it should. Hasn’t been too terribly rainy yet, though I’ve been warned so I’m considering the dry walks to my car to be flukes, so as to not get my hopes up too much. J and I have been shopping for snowboarding gear - went to some places around town and have been web-window-shopping like crazy. I sooo can’t wait for the season to begin! I know I’m gonna fall on my ass a hundred times and I’m a little nervous about that first time getting off the lift, but firsts are fun right?
So - I’m loving the seasonal changes - the brisk nights, spicy scents, sweatered people and Pumpkin Ale. And I dig making my apartment look autumn-esk, but I’d prefer to do so without the froo froo scarecrow, candy corn, black cats and smiling pumpkins motif. I’m simply looking to warm things up with a cozy modern autumn decor.
Let’s talk color. One of the easiest ways to embrace a season is with pops of color. When you think autumn what colors come to mind? Well, oranges, yellows, reds, and browns, yes?
