In my inbox a few days ago was an email from a guy in California (Hi Vic!) who is in the process of building a house and is totally hooked on the Win Platform Bed and the Cirque Fan posted together on 05.03. He asked if there were any other pieces I’d recommend to go along with them and I immediately thought of the Sussex collection.

Four years after returning to his home country of England from Belgium, designer Terence Woodgate developed this line in his Sussex studio. Reminiscent of English cottage shingles merged with a very sleek modern line design, the Sussex collection of storage furniture is a perfect example of contemporary elegance and style. I first came across this collection at The Conran Shop, but noticed that DWR recently made the Sussex Credenza Three with Drawers and the Sussex Tall Credenza with Drawers available in addition to 3 other pieces of the collection they offer; a larger selection and a slightly lower price.

Each piece is available with a powder coated steel frame in either the light oak finish or the darker wenge. For smaller spaces consider the Sussex Credenza Three with Drawers that has an adjustable shelf and media opening in the first and third cabinets, and the drawers in the center of the piece.

With the Win Platform Bed, I’d choose the Sussex Four Door High Cabinet (left), in the wenge finish, which has the adjustable shelves in each compartment and is a great height for the items you might keep in your bedroom. If you need more storage, then depending on how much space you have, both the Sussex Credenza (top) and the Tall Credenza with Drawers are beautiful, long lean pieces that offer ample compartments for storage and a ton of surface area on top for displaying your favorite lamp, sculpture, books or vase.

And, though I love the sprawling low profile
Sussex Low Console (right), in the same room as the platform bed, you might end up feeling like a giant. But in another space - perhaps a study or a dining nook - it’d be fantastic!
