Sweetware, Funware, Open Air Flatware
I’ve been eyeing the Open Air flatware for the past several weeks and must say, I think eating with them is an experience I have to have.

The Open Air set by Dutch designer Maarten Baptist takes an ordinary everyday tool and revises what you’re used to. With every intention to make the design stunning to look at, as well as eat with, the designer created a full set of high grade stainless steel flatware that is comfortably weighted and curved to fit your hand. The perimeter shape of each piece is fairly usual, but the hollow center makes it look and feel so different.
A design like this, any design, that goes beyond the realm of what you typically see is the kind of design that embellishes the world we live in. As consumers of good design we have the choice to do just that for ourselves - to make our surroundings intrigue, inspire and delight us - which to me, is very fulfilling.
