They call it Flipper Screen, Flipper Screen

This is the Flipper Screen. A few days ago I saw a Flipper Screen used on some goofy home design show (I’m a sucker for the HGTV) and thought it was a very cool idea.

One thing you can count on about a studio apartment or a loft is open undivided space. Regardless of how much space you actually have, most of us choose to make distinctions between various areas using furniture, rugs, curtains or screens.

I’ve been considering some see-through shelving for the archway between my chillin/tv area and my kitchen/poker table area. I wanted to create an obvious seperation between these spaces, but still be able to see past the big table to my patio doors (where gobs of beautiful sunlight pour through). So… I’m totally sold on the Flipper Screen for one big reason - versatility!

It’s a tri-fold piece, like many screens, but what makes the Flipper Screen so unique are the three circles cut in to each panel. The circles swivel at their center and actually lock into the open position, creating a shelf. Open some and keep others closed - it’s really up to you. Open only one of them if you’re a tease.
